TAIPEI, TAIWAN, 20 November, 2023 - In 2020, amidst the global pandemic that ushered in uncharted uncertainties and raucous reckonings, I founded CUiRASÉX—a leather-centric interdisciplinary creative studio. Specializing in the crafting of exclusive limited-edition collectibles, CUiRASÉX places emphasis on exquisite materials, exceptional craftsmanship, and unparalleled attention to detail—all while prioritizing sustainable business practices. As the curator of this monumental endeavor, I envision creating a platform where exceptional minds converge, blending creativity, multiplicity, and diversity to address the pressing global issues of our time.
At the forefront of this vision is iCONS+, my inaugural project, reflects my forty-two years of intertwining personal interests, brought to life in an unparalleled display of creativity and craftsmanship, and a venture seeking to intangibly connect with the world.This venture was born from a desire to create not just leather goods but tangible expressions of artistry that transcend conventional boundaries. iCONS+ stands as a testament to this vision—an ode to creativity and a curated blend of influences from my extensive journey, including my notable tenure spearheading the innovative product line, Villain Squad (VS), at MAISON PROMAX.VS, with its anthropomorphic mini handbags, was a remarkable success, resonating across diverse demographics and spanning 16 countries on 4 continents. Regrettably, the project came to an abrupt halt three years ago. However, the untapped potential of the anthropomorphic concept lingered.
Building upon this foundation, now, with iCONS+, I return with a renewed vision, refined design, and elevated craftsmanship. While retaining the beloved anthropomorphic elements, I've woven them seamlessly with meaningful subject matters. Taking cues from François Xavier Lalanne's works, each iCONS+ is a hybrid, fusing function and sculpture, curated through the lenses of art, pop culture, fashion, geopolitics, and social economics. This results in iCONS+ being a hybrid between a functional collectible and a leather sculpture.
